Debate Night - English workshop events

Entry fee $300 Requirements: Participants should have a conversational level of English and be comfortable discussing ideas in teams. No previous debate experience is required. Drinks and snacks included Milk Tea, black tea, Green tea and soft drink Light snacks (cakes, bread, fruit) This is the first event in a new series that we will be launching. These sessions are designed to be more challenging and academically-focused than our usual English Games Nights. Each event will be led by one or more experienced teachers and will utilise high-quality, internationally recognised teaching materials. Participants can expect engaging activities, expert guidance, and a supportive atmosphere that encourages both personal growth and confident English communication. Debate night details: When you arrive, you’ll be divided into teams and assigned a debate topic, along with a specific viewpoint that your team must argue in support of. Working together, you will learn how to build a strong and structured debate, with each team member taking on a role in presenting arguments, responding to challenges, and summarising your team’s position. With guidance from our facilitators, your team will develop persuasive arguments supported by examples, evidence, and logical reasoning to demonstrate why your viewpoint is the strongest. You’ll also prepare rebuttals and defensive responses, learning how to think critically and react effectively to questions, counterarguments, and challenges from the opposing team. The event is designed to be collaborative, engaging, and fun, helping you build confidence in public speaking, teamwork, critical thinking, and persuasive communication.
