Choc Education

Research-based Accelerated Language Learning

Who We Are

We are a growing English teaching and learning community. Based on the most current results from academic literature and our experiences as linguists, language learners, and social event frequenters, we are developing systems and frameworks to make the process of learning English a joyful one. Language learning that is fun is language learning that is effective.

Our Principles

Our rich and wide experience in education has brought us to insist on:

  • qualified teachers who are passionate about learning and care about their students
  • lessons that are packed with activities, games and interactions to acquire new knowledge and reinforce memory
  • frequent assessments for learning
  • individual tailored and personalised support
  • complementary cross-cultural social events to practise English with native speakers

Academic Evidence

In 2025, the UK's Education Endowment Fund commissioned a Rapid Evidence Assessment into Language Learning. It found that:

  • practitioner skills are key in impacting on successful FL learning and teaching — The teacher's ability might be the most important contributor to how effectively students learn the language
  • approaches that are largely meaning-oriented, providing rich, authentic, and stimulating FL input for students, which increases the involvement load (how engaged the learner is with the task) encouraged learners to be more successful in facilitating the development of foreign language knowledge and skill
  • Descriptive statistics indicated that the Gesture + Music Activity group scored highest — multi-modal learning, involving play, is indispensable to effective language learning

Our Pedagogical Practice

Our teachers hold a genuine interest in their students. We are warm and strict. We are kind and curious. Our classes are small to give individual tailored support and feedback. We are continuously monitoring our students' learning in to meet their remediation needs. We structure our lessons around the highest quality resources to maximise meaning-oriented, pronunciation and, most importantly, embedded learning.

Frequently Asked Questions

What research supports Choc Education's approach?

Our methodology is grounded in the UK Education Endowment Foundation's 2025 Rapid Evidence Assessment into language learning. The research identified three critical success factors: practitioner skills as the most important factor, meaning-oriented approaches with high involvement load, and multi-modal learning involving play. Our teaching practices are designed around all three.

What makes Choc Education different from other English schools?

We are founded by linguists and grounded in academic research, not just marketing claims. We combine formal small-class instruction with social events where students practise English with native speakers in real settings — hiking, games nights, park meetups. This blend of structured learning and authentic social practice is what makes language learning stick.
